France Opposes U.S. Policy on Restricting Access to Medicine
French Ambassador to Tehran Philippe Thiebaud says his country opposes the U.S. policies regarding Iran for restricting the Iranian nation’s access to medicines and medical equipment

TEHRAN (Iran News) – France Opposes U.S. Policy on Restricting Access to Medicine. Ambassador of France to Tehran Philippe Thiebaud says his country opposes the U.S. policies regarding Iran for restricting the Iranian nation’s access to medicines and medical equipment and emphasized cooperation between the two countries in fighting with coronavirus pandemic

In meeting with the head of Iran-France Parliamentary Friendship Group Mr. Mohammad Mehdi Mofatteh, Mr. Thiebaud pointed to the significant role of parliaments in developing the relations between the two countries, adding that parliament diplomacy is the major part of bilateral relation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and France.

He announced the readiness of his country for online talks between parliaments of both states in the current condition affected by the pandemic. He further said that cooperation in the health sector between both states has been since the past that as an example he can point to the foundation of Pasteur Institute in Iran in 1920.

Thiebaud also pointed to the appropriate trend of economic cooperation between the two countries in the past years and emphasized the continuation of trade and economic relations especially in the auto sector.

Mofatteh, for his part, pointed to defamation to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in France and said this issue has angered and hurt Muslims in the world and also Iranian nation, and it is expected the French parliament and government to be sensitive in observing rights and dignity of Muslims and all Divine religions.

He then pointed to the historic relation of the two countries and shaping the popular uprising in Iran with the late Imam Khomeini’s travel to Paris. He further said that since the first days after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the grounds were provided for Iranian and French nations that these capacities can be used for the interests of both nations.
