TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran on Sunday shipped a consignment of pharmaceutical and medical aid to Iraq to help its neighbors in the battle with the coronavirus pandemic.

Iran’s Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi said the shipment of medical items, weighing a ton, has been sent to the Arab country concurrent with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s visit to the Iraqi capital.

The donation from Iran has been sent to help Iraq in the battle with the coronavirus and would be handed over to the Iraqi Health Ministry’s representative, the envoy added.

Masjedi also expressed hope that the health ministries of the two Muslim neighbors would maintain close cooperation in the war on the viral disease.

Zarif arrived in Baghdad on Sunday morning for meetings with senior Iraqi officials and making arrangements for the Iraqi prime minister’s forthcoming trip to Tehran.
