TEHRAN (Iran News) – At least 11 wounded Afghans, including two security personnel, were the result of a blast rocked the capital of northern Baghlan province in Afghanistan on Saturday, provincial police spokesman Jawed Basharat said.

“The blast occurred next to the provincial police chief department in Pul-e-Khumri city at 08:40 a.m. Local time, resulted in 11 wounded Afghans, including two security personnel and nine civilians,” Basharat told Xinhua news agency.

Without providing more details, the official said an investigation had been initiated on the incident.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Omar Wardak, the head of provincial hospital in Pul-e-Khumri city, said the injured had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

According to the spokesman, anti-government militants placed an explosive device in a motorbike and detonated it in front of a hotel in the bazaar of Spin Boldak district at 1:11 p.m. local time, wounding seven civilians, some in critical condition.

Similarly, an explosive-laden car drove by a militant in Mardyan district of the northern Jawzjan province on Tuesday evening exploded prematurely, killing 11 people including 10 militants and a civilian and wounding 12 civilians, provincial police chief Abdul Wahid Wajdan said Wednesday, Xinhua news agency reported.

A mine planted by militants on a road in Mizan district of the southern Zabul province struck a car, killing three civilians and wounding three others on Tuesday evening, a statement of provincial police said Wednesday.
