TEHRAN (Iran News) Iranian satellites Kowsar and Hodhod were sent into space as part of a payload carried by the Russian Soyuz launcher, which delivered 53 satellites to orbit.

This launch represents a significant advancement for Iran, highlighting the first satellite manufacturing and launching attempt from its private space sector.

The Kowsar satellite, weighing 30 kilograms, is a high-resolution sensing satellite designed for applications in agriculture, natural resource management, environmental monitoring, and disaster response.

With a resolution capability of 3.45 meters, Kowsar surpasses Iran’s goal of producing satellites with 10-meter ground sample distance (GSD) cameras by 2025.

Kowsar has a lifespan of 3.5 years in orbit, positioned at an altitude of 500 kilometers, and is capable of capturing six frames per second over a 15-kilometer range.

Its imaging is achieved using an RGB camera with 3.45-meter resolution and an NIR camera with 5.5-meter resolution, supported by a maximum platform weight of 35 kilograms.

The satellite’s orbital period is 5,677 seconds, with pointing and stability accuracies of 1 degree and 0.05 degrees per second, respectively.

Power is sustained by its 44 watt-hour production capacity, and it consumes 29 watt-hours to operate its payloads.

Meanwhile, Hodhod serves as a small communications satellite intended to create satellite-based communication networks and enhance Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity.

Targeted at regions with limited terrestrial communication access, Hodhod offers communication solutions in remote and inaccessible areas.

Built to the CubeSat standard, the satellite operates in a 500-kilometer orbit and supports precision agriculture, transportation, logistics, and environmental monitoring. Its primary mission focuses on expanding IoT capabilities.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Salariyeh announced on Saturday that the launches are scheduled to occur before July 21, as reported by the official IRNA news agency.

Salariyeh noted that the ISA is currently performing compatibility tests between the satellites and the launch rockets.

“The compatibility and joint tests between launches and carrying rockets are among important and sensitive issues which sometimes can face delays because of certain technical problems,” he stated.

He assured, however, that the satellite launches will proceed only after ensuring a 100% success rate in the compatibility tests.

On Tuesday, Iran’s Minister of Communications Issa Zarepour highlighted the significant advancements in the nation’s space and communication sectors in recent years.

“In less than two and a half years, 12 satellites have been successfully launched into space, and two more launches are planned by the end of the current administration to set a new record in Iran’s space history,” Zarepour noted.

He also mentioned efforts to stabilize the technology for injecting satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

“After a decade-long hiatus, the space life program has been revived, and two new biological capsules are under construction to take an important step towards sending humans into space,” Zarepour added.

Despite Western pressure and sanctions on its space sector, Iran has successfully conducted satellite launches in recent years.

Iran maintains that peaceful technological advancement in the aerospace field is the country’s legitimate right with authorities stating that the satellites are used for various scientific and development purposes in the country.

In January, Iran launched three satellites simultaneously for the first time using a modern satellite carrier developed by the Iranian Defense Ministry.

The ISA-built Mahda satellite was unveiled during these launches.

This event followed the launch of the Sorayya satellite into orbit with a rocket designed by Iran’s elite military force, the IRGC.

Additionally, in late February, an Iranian satellite was placed into a 500-kilometer orbit for the first time.

The Pars 1 research-sensing satellite was launched from Russia’s Vostochny spaceport using the Soyuz rocket.

According to the Post, the plan would provide a Russian-made Kanopus-V satellite outfitted with a high-resolution camera, which could be launched from Russia within months.

The report was published only days before U.S. President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin meet in Geneva, and as Iran and the U.S. engage in indirect discussions to resurrect a 2015 nuclear deal aimed to limit Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

“We have plans for cooperation with Iran, including military and technical cooperation,” Putin told NBC News.

“It’s all fake news. At the very least, I’m not familiar with this type of thing… It’s all gibberish and garbage.”

In a report on Thursday, the Washington Post, citing current and former U.S. and West Asian officials, claimed the satellite system delivery might take place within months and is the product of several trips to Russia by Iranian officials.

U.S. President Joe Biden, who is on his first foreign trip since taking office in January, is anticipated to discuss issues related to Iran, including the 2015 nuclear deal, among other things.

Most Advanced Domestically-Made Satellite Completed

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK

TEHRAN – ICT Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said on Monday that the final tests of the country’s most advanced domestically-made satellite have been carried out.

Azari Jahromi made the remarks speaking during a visit to an exhibition in the Iranian capital where the country’s latest indigenized information technology achievements were put on display.

He said that Pars-1 Satellite will be delivered to the Iranian Space Agency next week.

From now on the experts of the Iranian Space Agency will focus on the construction of Nahid-2 Satellite which is a telecommunication satellite, the minister said.

Pars-1 Satellite is capable of taking images in the space at night.

Meanwhile yesterday Azari Jahromi said that domestic producers must keep on with up to date technology and try to gain markets overseas.

He said that technical knowledge of production to increase productivity is available inside our country.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of an exhibition to introduce achievements of indigenous advanced equipment in the National Information Network.

The minister called software planning and creativity as two essential production elements and stressed that these elements are available in Iran.

He went on to say that decreasing the price of local productions is essential, meaning that the cost of local products must be less than foreign ones.

Azari-Jahromi also urged companies to pay attention to after-sale services.

Dynamic technology is another factor that should not be neglected by domestic producers. To achieve this goal, research and development sections must not stop expanding their products and compete with foreign companies.

Referring to the local production’s security aspect, the minister stressed that local production is used to prevent enemies from accessing information, especially the military and defense infrastructures.

The production line of an indigenous cell phone in Maragheh city was kicked off, hoping that it reaches mass production soon, the official concluded.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force Space Division said Iran has plans to launch satellites into a geosynchronous equatorial orbit (GEO) 36,000 kilometers above the Earth.

In an interview with an Iranian online magazine, Brigadier General Ali Jafarabadi highlighted the IRGC’s success to launch the homegrown Noor satellite into space in April, saying plans have been formulated to reach higher orbits.

He said the IRGC is going to launch satellites into the geostationary orbit which is 36,000 km above the Earth in the coming years.

The GEO is very significant and strategic since the telecommunication and television satellites are placed in this orbit, Iran armed forces chief noted.

The commander said launching an Iranian satellite into the geosynchronous equatorial orbit has economic benefits for the country and would also protect Iran’s space assets.

When a communication satellite is placed in a geostationary orbit, the Earth-based antennas do not have to rotate to track it but can be pointed permanently at the position in the sky where the satellite is located.

The IRGC successfully put Noor (light) into orbit on April 22. The homegrown satellite was launched with a three-stage satellite carrier, dubbed Qassed (messenger), from a launchpad in the Dasht-e Kavir, a large desert in central Iran.

The satellite has been placed into an orbit 425 kilometers above the Earth.

Noor-1 Satellite Stupefies the World

On Wednesday morning, April 22, and with Almighty God blessings, the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a muscle-showing act, shot successfully its first military satellite, dubbed “Noor-1” (light-1), into the orbit by its brave and glory maker IRGC forces to monitor the country’s space.

IRAN NEWS POLITICAL DESK

The satellite was launched with a three-phased Qased carrier by IRGC’s Aerospace Division and it was put into orbit at an altitude of 425 kilometers from the earth’s surface in the desert plain’s Shahroud region. Such a bold move is a major achievement and a big development in the aerospace field for Islamic Iran because in the current condition that the Islamic Republic of Iran is under the hardest political, economic, technology sanctions and its enemies do not let it even buy and import its industrial needs and any of its move is monitored by enemies’ traitor elements inside the country, such a condition for a country to take such a brave and unbelievable action is not so simple.

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) General Hossein Salami in an interview after the success said that the successful launch of the satellite improved the new dimensions of the defense power of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that today Iran has become a power in aerospace and such a success indicates that the country can achieve significant and global success in any field that it steps in.

He noted that the world’s powerful armies would be lacking in a comprehensive defense plan without reaching the space, adding that it was necessary for a strong defense force such as the IRGC to acquire the space technologies. “Achieving this raising technology which takes us to space and expands the domain of our capabilities is a strategic achievement,” the commander stressed.

In the simplest analysis of this achievement, one can point out that IRGC today with this achievement has been equipped with a tool that helps it to improve its dominance and access to geopolitical, economic and military information.

Of course this point should be taken into consideration that so far no comprehensive details about capabilities of Noor-1 Satellite have been revealed but one can easily realize that Noor-1 is a multi-purpose satellite which is used in compliance with the objectives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and it has both civil and military usages.

Above all, when enemies’ media skipped through such an important event, it means they have been badly shocked. While pandemic Coronavirus has gripped most of the countries in the world and in the condition global economy is facing important change, taking such a brave action would definitely stupefy many people.

That we emphasize that all scientific, technical and innovations used in this achievement are all domestic-made and achievements of our scientists is source of pride. The Supreme Leader in his remarks this year reiterated that in order to stand against the cruelty, one should be strong and become strong and this power itself will be a deterrent force against greedy aliens. So this action of the IRGC showed that on path of obeying velayat, it paves the ground for more reliance to the sublime stance of the velayat and moving in this direction. Today whole world is watching Iran’s outstanding success which is hailed among the pure and honest people and creates hatred among the filthy people, and this is exactly practicing Islam’s real tawalli (associate oneself with the Imams (A) and the leaders of religion and to submit to their velayat) and tabarra (dissociate oneself from the enemies of God and the enemies of religion’s authorities) and de facto acting Islam’s instructions.

IRGC Vows More Surprises to Come Soon

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK

TEHRAN – The Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Division has said that the country is receiving signals from its recently launched Noor satellite and that it plans to launch a future satellite in higher orbit.

Speaking on Thursday, Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh said that Iran had received the satellite’s signals from stations near the capital Tehran and the southeastern cities of Zahedan and Chabahar following its launch.

“We received the latest signal last night,” he added, explaining that the satellite orbits the earth every 90 minutes.

“The satellite’s configurations will be fully set in a few days allowing the satellite to attain its full operational capacity,” he added.

Iran’s first military satellite, dubbed Noor-1 (Light 1), was launched into orbit some 425 kilometers above the Earth’s surface on Wednesday.

Iran’s IRGC has, for the first time, launched and successfully placed into orbit a military satellite.

Also in his remarks, Hajizadeh stressed the importance of space technologies in addressing Iran’s civilian and military needs.

He added that the development of the satellite was a “super project” made possible by undertaking major leaps in the technology field.

The general added that the IRGC seeks to launch a future satellite “in a higher orbit and with better performance” in the “near future”.

Explaining that Noor’s satellite carrier – dubbed Qased (Messenger) – used a missile engine from Iran’s existing missile arsenal operating on liquid fuel, the general said that future motors will be upgraded to work with solid fuel.

Solid fuel will allow for the production of smaller satellite carriers, he said.

Hajizadeh added that the Qased’s structure had also been made of composite material, a “complex” and “state-of-the-art” feature decreasing the weight of the missile.

The general also noted that the Noor satellite’s communication and telecommunication systems had been fully designed and manufactured inside the country.

Also in his remarks, Hajizadeh said that the satellite launch had “caught western intelligence agencies by surprise”.

“It is natural for them to be frustrated by what we’ve done,” he added, stressing that the force will continue with its space operations “with force” to protect the country.

Hajizadeh added that Iran’s military capabilities have allowed the country to focus on countering U.S. economic sanctions imposed on the country without facing security disturbances.

He also noted how Iran’s capabilities had successfully deterred Washington from further provocations after Iran responded to Washington’s assassination of its top commander, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani in January.

“During the Ain al-Assad operation we believed the Americans would respond and we had prepared 400 targets, but they did not,” he said.

A few days following the assassination of General Soleimani, Iran launched salvos of missiles at two bases housing US troops in Iraq’s western Anbar Province and Kurdistan regional capital, Erbil.

Despite the attacks leading to widespread destruction and casualties, Washington did not follow up on its vow to attack if Tehran targeted U.S. assets in response to General Soleimani’s assassination.

In a tweet on Thursday, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani also said that “new surprises are on the way” as the country battles US sanctions and pressure alongside the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Meanwhile An Iranian commander says the military satellite launched by the IRGC into orbit on Wednesday is to carry out reconnaissance and strategic support missions.

Brigadier General Ali Jafarzadeh made the remarks in a televised interview on Thursday, explaining the main task of the satellite.

“Our first local satellite is going to carry out reconnaissance operations. In the defence sector, we need to have positional and military awareness about our forces, and the sensors installed on the satellite will do this job for us.”

In the civilian and humanitarian field, especially at the time of natural disasters the IRGC plays a key role, and it needs support at these times, but sometimes the weather is so bad that choppers and drones cannot be dispatched, added the Iranian commander.

The satellites are placed in the orbit some hundred kilometres over the places in which disasters have happened. They can monitor all the region completely.

“For example, during Khuzestan province flooding, the scope was so broad that drones and helicopters could not reach the affected regions. So, there is a need for having satellite in these regions, and we will use the Noor in the IRGC’s humanitarian operations,” stressed Jafarabadi.

About the coordinates of “Noor”, he said this satellite is ranked among the types that are placed in s range of 430 kilometres.

IRGC Successfully Shoots Iran First Military Satellite Into Orbit

IRAN NEWS NATIONAL DESK

TEHRAN – Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has successfully launched and placed the country’s first military satellite into the orbit.

The elite force fired the satellite — dubbed Nour (Light)-1 — aboard Qased (Carrier) satellite carrier during an operation that was staged in Dasht-e Kavir, Iran’s sprawling central desert, on Wednesday, the Corps’ Sepah News reported.

The satellite was placed into the orbit 425 kilometers above Earth’s surface.

The Tasnim News Agency, meanwhile, carried a report outlining some details of the launch and the country’s space activities.

The report described Nour-1 as Iran’s first multi-purpose satellite with application in the defense industry among other areas.

The launch operation, it noted, was carried out by the IRGC’s Aerospace Division from a launch station situated in the desert plain’s Shahroud region.

The report specified Qased as the country’s first three-stage satellite launcher to successfully pass all its tests.

The agency said the country’s aerospace program was expected to gather pace following the launch.

Over the next several years, it said, the country was expected to deploy its military space activities towards taking care of its relevant telecommunication purposes, including promotion of reconnaissance and safe communication capabilities.

Speaking on the launch, IRGC Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami said, “Today, we can observe the world from space,” congratulating Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Iranian people on the Islamic establishment’s achievement.

The launch, he said, served as an acknowledgment of the “empowerment approach” that has been advised by the Leader.

General Salami noted that the development showed that the Islamic Republic was capable of securing “remarkable” achievements that warranted international acclaim in whatever area that the country would choose to explore.

“The satellite’s successful launch enhanced new aspects of the Islamic Republic’s defensive might. By God’s grace, the Corps turned into a space force today,” the commander said.

General Salami further characterized the achievement as a strategic gain that expanded “the realm of our capabilities.” Setting foot in the space was a “necessity” for a powerful defense force like the IRGC, he added.

The success translates into a “mutation” in expansion of the country’s intelligence reach and command, General Salami said, noting that the orbiter could now come to the country’s assistance in “intelligence warfare.”

Salami hailed that all the components of both the satellite and the carrier had been produced indigenously and despite the US’s sanctions.

The launch conveys the message that not only have not the sanctions proven an obstacle in the way of Iran’s progress, but have also “turned on the engine propelling the novel technologies that turn us into a great power in the region and on the international stage in the foreseeable future,” the commander said.
