In a meeting in Moscow on Friday, Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali and his Syrian counterpart Riyad Haddad talked about ways to promote cooperation between Tehran and Damascus.

They also discussed the latest developments in Syria, the Astana Process for Syria peace, the situation in Syria’s Idlib and the east of the Euphrates, Western sanctions against Syria, and prospect of normalization of ties between a number of Arab governments and the Zionist regime.

In the meeting, the Syrian ambassador denounced the move by certain Arab states to normalize ties with Israel as a big treason, stressing that Damascus is opposed to such a normalization process.

Last month, Bahrain became the fourth Arab government to reach a deal with Israel after Egypt, Jordan and the UAE.

The recent decision from the UAE and Bahrain has drawn fierce criticism from around the Muslim world.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has denounced the United Arab Emirates for betraying the Muslim world and regional nations by establishing ties with the Israeli regime, saying the treason would not last long while such a shame will taint the UAE forever.

Praising Norway’s support for the 2015 nuclear deal, the Iranian president said its membership in the UN Security Council provides a good opportunity to strengthen global cooperation for peace and stability in the world.

Hans Odo Motzel, Germany’s new ambassador to Tehran also met with Rouhani, who urged that the economic interaction between Tehran and Berlin should grow irrespective of the US’ illegal sanctions.

Hailing Germany’s stances against the US’ unilateralism, the Iranian chief executive said the three European parties to the JCPOA have acted “logically” in dealing with the US’ illegal and incorrect measures and attempts to re-impose the cruel sanctions against the Iranian nation and in supporting the UNSC Resolution 2231.

In another meeting with the new Portuguese ambassador Carlos Antonio Rico Da Costa Nos, Rouhani expressed Iran’s willingness for cooperation with Portugal in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

He also praised Portugal for supporting international law and multilateral agreements, particularly the JCPOA, and opposing unilateralism.

Another foreign diplomat wgo submitted his credentials to the Iranian president was the new ambassador of Spain, Luis Felipe Fernandez de la Pena.

In the meeting, Rouhani said many world countries are struggling with two viruses, namely the coronavirus and the American unilateralism, calling for unity and collective action against the two viruses.

In another meeting, new ambassador of the Czech Republic in Tehran Josef Rychtar submitted his credentials to the president.

Expressing satisfaction with Prague’s support for the Iran nuclear deal and opposition to Washington’s unilateralism, Rouhani stressed the need for the enhancement of bilateral ties without being influenced by the American sanctions.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The first vessel in an Iranian convoy of ships bringing desperately needed fuel arrived in Venezuela, demonstrating both nations’ determination to undermine US efforts to isolate the governments in Tehran and Caracas.

The Iranian tanker Forest entered Venezuelan waters early Monday, according to tanker-tracker data collected by Bloomberg. It headed to El Palito refinery port, said union leader Ivan Freites. It’s one of three vessels bringing hundreds of thousands of barrels of the fuel.

Following years of operational neglect, Venezuelan state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela PDVSA is unable to supply the country with gasoline, idling not only millions of cars and buses but also emergency vehicles and trucks delivering food from farms to cities.

US sanctions restricting PDVSA’s ability to import fuel from international markets have worsened what were once sporadic shortages, touching off days-long queues at filling stations and more frequent unrest. US sanctions have also fomented closer strategic ties between Iran and Venezuela as most international oil and shipping companies avoid Venezuela for fear of risking penalties by the U.S.

Two more tankers, the Fortune and Faxon, are expected to arrive in the coming days. This is the second time Iran has provided gasoline to Venezuela since the end of May, when a flotilla of five vessels discharged nearly 1.5 million barrels of Iranian gasoline and fuel additives, as well as parts for local refineries.

Iran’s shipments signal Tehran’s commitment to aiding its South American ally despite US efforts to stymie such cooperation.

Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei at the time praised the efforts of the crew and captains of tankers that took Iran’s gasoline to Venezuela despite threats by the administration of US President Donald Trump to take action against them, according to Press TV.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has said any attempt by the US to stop them will be met with “a swift and decisive response.”

In a letter to United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres in May, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif issued a stern warning against the US’ provocative acts through dispatching its naval forces to the Caribbean Sea with the goal of disrupting the course of Iranian tankers carrying fuel for Venezuela.

In the Saturday meeting with his Iraqi counterpart in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed Tehran’s backing for the political trend in, and sovereignty of Iraq, saying the Arab country’s security is important for the Islamic Republic.

Zarif touched upon the attacks carried out against Iranian diplomatic sites and highlighted the necessity of guaranteeing the dignity and security of Iranian diplomats in Iraq.

He also condemned any assaults on diplomatic places and denounced any such attacks as unacceptable. Zarif said such attacks must be stopped.

He referred to the United States’ assassination of top Iranian commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani in Iraq, calling on the Iraqi government to discharge its responsibility in that regard.

The Iraqi foreign minister, in turn, underscored the strategic importance of Tehran-Baghdad ties.

He said the two sides enjoy age-old relations and a common geography as well as common economic and political interests, the Iranian government’s website reported.

He said Iraq will not allow its soil to be used for threatening neighboring countries.

As agreed in the meeting, an Iraqi technical team will travel to Iran in the coming two weeks to implement mutual agreements, including those on dredging the border river of Arvand Rud.

In a post on Twitter, Farazmand said, “[In a meeting with] Turkey’s Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoglu, ways to promote cooperation in the railroad, land and air transportation were explored,” reported Tasnim News Agency.

During the meeting, both sides also said that regular business flights between the two countries will resume in the near future and under health protocols amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Iran has put forward a proposal to set up a new railroad line with Turkey, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami said in August.

Stressing the need to enhance rail transport and links between Iran and Turkey, Eslami said the Razi-Kapikoy border crossing is currently the only railroad connection between the two countries.

Calling for a rise in the number of rail routes, he said Iran has designated Cheshme-Sorayya station as the connection spot for launching a new railroad line with Turkey and has sent the results of its studies to Ankara.
