TEHRAN – The CEO of Bank Melli Iran (BMI) has urged people to use online banking service while the country is fighting with Coronavirus and experiencing lockdown and social distancing.

Speaking in a press conference, Dr. Mohammad Reza Hosseinzadeh said that according to the health ministry statement, banks are considered as one of the contaminated places for contracting Coronavirus and despite requests of banks from clients for using online services and to avoid physical presence in the banks, people still rush to the banks for their banking services and his colleagues in the banks offer services to meet people’s demands.

Hosseinzadeh who is head of coordination council of banks admitted that 42 bank staff have lost their lives because of contracting Coronavirus and emphasized the role of banks and performance of their staff in the current condition.

On cooperation with owners of industries and occupations, he said that BMI will do its best to alleviate the woes of owners of some jobs who have suffered financially because of the outbreak of Coronavirus by extending maturity date of their installments.

He reiterated that those owners and job owners who avoid dismissing their staff because of the Coronavirus effects will be granted some loan facilities to continue their jobs.

Hosseinzadeh went on to say that banking system is one of the jobs which has suffered financially because of the virus, admitting that transactions have fallen in this period and it is expected dear people to understand the current condition and to cooperate with banks’ staff in this critical moment.

He further said that to materialize the Supreme Leader’s remarks for surge in production, banks have especial programs for the current year to boost economy and domestic production in order to push national economy and industry forward.

He stated that working hours of the banks will be based on what has been approved by the government.

He once again urged people to avoid their physical presence in banks and instead they use online services.

French Ambassador to Tehran Philippe Thiebaud and the cultural attaché of French Embassy on Monday visited Museum of Bank Melli Iran.

According to reports, Mr. Thiebaud visited different sections of the museum and saw historic and precious works and objects in the museum. During the visit, the ambassador was accompanied by Saadollah Issazadeh, an official in the public relations of the bank.

The French diplomat expressed his satisfaction for his presence in the museum, adding that the priceless collection in the museum reflects the history of banking industry in Iran and its gradual progress and hailed the bank for collecting and preserving such valuable works.

The museum is open to the enthusiasts from Saturday to Wednesday and its working hour is 13 to 17 p.m.

The museum is located on Ferdowsi Street in Tehran.

But in Friday’s decision, Circuit Judge Richard Wesley faulted trial judge Katherine Forrest, who is now in private practice, for “a troubling pattern of errors on relatively straightforward issues.”

“We are obviously pleased,” Alavi’s lawyers Daniel Ruzumna and John Gleeson said in a joint statement. “All we have ever wanted and asked for is a fair shake.”

In the exhibition, Algeria’s banknote as well as some contemporary artworks like paintings, miniatures, handicrafts and apparels have been put on display.

According to the reports, the joint Iranian Banks-Algerian Embassy Exhibition will continue by the end of Ramadan at Bank Melli Iran’s Museum and it will be open to the public from 13 to 17 p.m from Saturday to Wednesday.

He reiterated that the performance of foreign branches of the bank is favorable and it will continue this year.

He reiterated that officials of the bank should be more focused on the profits and the losses of all branches of the bank, adding that all staff of the bank should be sensitive to the profit-making issue in their branches and prioritize it.

Hosseinzadeh also pointed to the unique services of the bank in the digital and e-banking field like BAM and BALEH services, adding that such services would decrease the expenditure of the bank and would play a key role in attracting customers.

He also urged officials and staff of the bank for observing all laws and regulations related to the money-laundering because the bank is active internationally and should comply with international regulations.

According to Iran News Economic group Deputy Finance Minister on Banking, Insurance and State-Run Companies Affairs says Bank Melli Iran has been always an important arm for the national economic system, adding that all should work to stop overloading the burdens of the economy on the shoulders of the bank.

Abbas Memarnejad in meeting with the management and officials of Bank Melli Iran said that the BMI is an economic enterprise and its profitability should be taken into consideration. He added that BMI is the supportive arm of the government and it is the first bank of the country and the issue of government’s dues to the bank should be settled very soon.

He went on to say that in recent years the bank’s dues to the Central Bank have decreased.

Meanwhile the CEO of the Bank said that the bank belongs to all people of Iran, adding that expectation from the bank is high because of its popularity and expansion in the country.

He reiterated that the bank has reached a financial discipline in recent years and in the past two years it has had no dues to the Central Banks.

He also pointed to the holding the First Melli Show in February, adding that the bank is to put on display their latest achievements and services in the show.
