TEHRAN (Iran News) – On Tuesday, the Embassy of Poland held an exhibition “The History of Polish Mountaineering” on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first expedition of Polish mountaineers by Jelcz to the high mountains and the team of Polish travelers was present.

Addressing the participants, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Poland Mr. Wojciech Unolt pointed to some cultural commonalities of Iran and Poland especially in the field of mountaineering and said the presences of Polish mountaineers in Tehran is just for displaying the commonalities.

He said on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first expedition of Polish mountaineers, another expedition is being take place and members of the team are now in Tehran and present in this exhibition. He added that the aim of the expedition is to make the Polish mountain sport achievements known all over the World.

Unolt added, “Three brave Polish mountaineers travel from Poland to Nepal in their historic truck to present the achievements of Polish mountaineers over the past 50 years. They have arrived in Iran now to show the achievements of Polish mountaineers in a special photo exhibition for those interested in this field.”

The team is in Iran as part of their long expedition to Nepal to retrace the footsteps of the first Polish expedition to the Himalayas 50 years ago.

It was in the 70’ and 80’ of the 20th century that Polish Himalayan mountaineering lived its ‘Golden Age”. In those years Poles not only climbed the highest peaks of the Himalayas and the Karakoram but also became famous for their first-ever winter conquests of several summits. A Polish-made truck “Jelcz” played an important role in the successes of Polish climbers, who used it to travel overland from Poland to the world’s highest mountains as well as to transport their equipment, food and supplies.

They travel across ten countries, including Iran en route to Nepal. They started their journey from Jelenia Góra in Poland on August 21, and after crossing Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey, they arrived in Iran on September 5.

Three prominent Polish travelers, Ryszard Wloszczowski, Arkadiusz Peryga and Maciej Pietrowicz presented a photo exhibition on the history of Polish mountaineering.

During the event, the head of international department of Iran Mountaineering Federation Reza Zare pointed to the cultural commonalities between Iran and Poland and the role of Poles in the development of mountaineering, saying that in the 70’s the Polish climbers traced the Polish route on the northern face of Alam-Kuh, Iran’s second-highest peak.

He also described the Polish conquests as a model for Iranian mountaineers.

Etihad Airways flight EY 9607 from Abu Dhabi landed at Ben Gurion airport early in the morning with only crew on board, a spokeswoman for the Israel Airports Authority said, AFP reported.

The plane picked up Israeli tourism professionals, who would be flying to the UAE for a two-day trip visit organized by Israeli company Maman Group, the spokeswoman said.

The UAE carrier said it had made “history.”

“Etihad has become the first (Persian) Gulf airline to operate a passenger flight to Israel. And this is only the beginning,” the airline said on Twitter.

Etihad planes had landed in Ben Gurion with medical supplies in May and June to “help” the Palestinians cope with the coronavirus pandemic.

The Palestinians, who object the agreement Israel forged with the UAE, refused to receive the aid.

In August, Israel and the UAE announced that they had reached a US-brokered deal to normalize ties, following years of discreet economic and security cooperation.

The UAE and Israel were due on Tuesday to sign an agreement to have 28 weekly commercial flights, a transportation ministry official said.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – National flag carrier IranAir announced it will resume flights to Germany’s Cologne as of October 30.

The airline announced the issue on Thursday, Mehr News Agency reported.

The flight, No. 729, leaves Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) at 17:40 on Fridays every week and arrives at Cologne Bonn Airport at 21:00 local time.

On the same day another flight, number 728, will take off from Cologne Bonn Airport at 22:30 local time and will land at IKIA at 6:15 a.m. on Saturday.

IranAir operates flights to three airports in Frankfurt, Cologne and Hamburg weekly, according to the airline.

On September 20, IranAir announced it was restoring flights to Istanbul after a seven-month halt that was caused by the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in Iran and other parts of the region.

IranAir said in a statement that flights to Istanbul would resume as of September 25 with Flight 719 from IKIA to Istanbul.

The airline said passengers should have had a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test 72 hours before arrival in Istanbul airport confirming they are free of coronavirus.

The airline said its certificate to fly to Istanbul had been issued “based on negotiations between the two countries of Iran and Turkey”.

Istanbul was one of IranAir’s main destinations before the pandemic hit global air travel in late February. The airline has managed to restore flights to key destinations in Europe now that restrictions meant to curb the virus have eased.

Flights to Istanbul had resumed in early July before Turkish authorities reimposed fresh bans on travel from several countries in the Middle East, including from Iran, over concerns about a second wave of the coronavirus outbreak.

The pandemic has had a deep impact on Iran’s aviation industry amid sanctions imposed by the US and allies that ban certain Iranian airlines from traveling to and above major countries.

Domestic air travel has also been impacted with authorities announcing earlier that some companies had lost about 90 percent of demand for flights to main destinations.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet session on Wednesday, Saeed Namaki said President Hassan Rouhani has accepted his proposal for travel restrictions during the upcoming three-day holidays.

The health minister expressed hope that the restrictions would help curb the pandemic.

This week, the two-day weekend in Iran is followed by a holiday marking the martyrdom anniversary of the eighth Shiite imam, Imam Reza (AS).

While the authorities have warned people to stay home and abide by social distancing protocols to tackle the pandemic, many people plan to go on vacation on the weekend and national holidays.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – The South African Department of Home Affairs announced the removal of visa requirements for several nationalities, including Iranians.

In a bid to boost tourism to the country, South Africa’s home affairs minister Aaron Motsoaledi has announced visa-free travel for 11 countries.

In a media briefing, the minister said the visa-free status of citizens of some countries and territories was temporarily suspended at the start of the lockdown period, Travel Daily Media reported on Tuesday.

“In line with the commitment of the government to take urgent steps to address the economic and tourism stagnation brought about by the outbreak of COVID-19, the visa-free status of citizens from a number of countries and territories has been reinstated,” Motsoaledi said.

The countries include South Korea, Spain, Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, US, UK, France, Portugal, and Iran. However, the minister said that visa-free status does not alter the current COVID-19 regulations.

The minister also said he has instructed officials to communicate this decision to the aviation industry, embassies, and other stakeholders as a matter of urgency. “The port managers have been instructed to adhere to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) protocol and guidelines regulating the movement of essential goods under COVID-19 regulations. “The guidelines regulating truck drivers traveling across the border will continue to apply as has been the case for the past seven months,” he said.

The minister said that immigration officers will be required to assess the movement and place of origin of the traveler and not the country of origin of the airline concerned.

“Transit travelers through South Africa by air will be allowed to connect to their destinations, subject to them complying with applicable health protocols but need not produce the 72 hours negative certificate.”

Motsoaledi said that any person from a country listed as having a high COVID-19 infection and transmission rate, who wish to undertake business travel into South Africa, may, in writing, apply to the Department of Home Affairs and demonstrate reasons for their request to enter the country for business purposes during the period of the national state of disaster.

Iranian airlines carried 177,511 people on domestic routes and 141, 44 people on international routes during July 22-August 21, showing 37 percent and 30 percent growth respectively, Fars News Agency reported.

In a post on Twitter, Farazmand said, “[In a meeting with] Turkey’s Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoglu, ways to promote cooperation in the railroad, land and air transportation were explored,” reported Tasnim News Agency.

During the meeting, both sides also said that regular business flights between the two countries will resume in the near future and under health protocols amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Iran has put forward a proposal to set up a new railroad line with Turkey, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami said in August.

Stressing the need to enhance rail transport and links between Iran and Turkey, Eslami said the Razi-Kapikoy border crossing is currently the only railroad connection between the two countries.

Calling for a rise in the number of rail routes, he said Iran has designated Cheshme-Sorayya station as the connection spot for launching a new railroad line with Turkey and has sent the results of its studies to Ankara.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – There are a lot of factors that go into making a place perfect for hosting you for dinner. We tried to find these factors and prioritize them. Then, we looked into potential dining places in Richmond Hill to see how they were doing in each factor. We tried to find just the perfect place for you to have the dinner you deserve in Richmond Hill, and we did!

Here are the most important factors that affect your dinner experience in a restaurant, brought here in the order of importance.

Ingredient quality

The obvious criteria should be food. The place should serve you good food, obviously! But what does it take for a food to be perfect in every aspect? The most important factor is ingredients. Good food cannot be attained without fresh , high-quality ingredients. The place you go to eat should not be using frozen, smelly meat. A good place gets its meat on a daily basis to be able to cook it fresh. Also for vegetables, they should be used the same day they are bought in order to be fresh when served or cooked. That does make a lot of difference.

Food preparation

Another important aspect of good food is how it is cooked. Having a skilled chef who cooks their own menu, has enough experience in the kitchen, can organize the staff, and has the right people in the staff goes a long way in changing the quality of the food that comes out of the kitchen. The cooks should be trained well to have the proper skill and knowledge needed and know how to cooperate with the chef in the most efficient way.

Ambiance

Now, a lot of what makes your dinner experience happens outside of the kitchen. The place in which you dine and the atmosphere are very important. Nice décor and good background music can turn a dull, boring evening into an exciting one that you will want to recreate. The different elements of the ambiance in the place should be in accordance with each other and the main theme of the place. The volume of the music, if there is any, should be at optimum level – loud enough so that there is a background music felt; yet quiet enough for people to be able to socialize with each other without being disrupted.

Service

The service, as we say, is another criteria that has lots of different aspects to it. There should be enough people in the staff for waiting the tables without making the customers wait more than they need to – which is a really short amount of time, by the way. The staff should be properly trained e.g. the waiters should know the menus well, the bartenders should be fast and precis. The manager, also, should have enough authority on the staff to be able to organize them and get the best out of them.

Variety

The variety of foods and drinks are very important, too. This does not mean that a place should have a hundred-page menu! The menus that have too many options in them arise two problems. First, a kitchen has to be ready to prepare every option on the menu and too many options makes the kitchen inefficient. Second, the customer should not be perplexed by the menu. A menu with too many options takes a considerable amount of time and attention to go through and that could be boring for customers. The menu should have just enough options for customers to have open hands, yet short enough not to exhaust them to go through.

Price

Lastly, the place you go to should be fair with their price. Sure, a good meal is not the cheapest meal you can get but it does not have to be the most expensive either. The portions of the foods should be in accordance with the price. Customers should not have to be paying for what they do not need, either.

Based on the variables that were mentioned, we looked through the most popular places in Richmond Hill and evaluated every aspect of their work. Many places had good food, but bad service, overall. Some had a nice ambiance, but the food would disappoint you. Most places used good ingredients but the preparation and presentation of the food was not up there with the best in many of them. Some others were average in every aspect and a few were, let’ say, below average. A handful were good in all categories, but the unnecessarily expensive prices ruled them out. But one place came up at or near the top in every criteria we managed to look into.

We Found the Best Place

Haida Sandwich is arguably the best place you can have dinner in Richmond Hill. Their prices are the best we saw all over Richmond Hill compared to the food and service. The huge portions they offer, paired with very affordable prices makes Haida the place that you can get the most out of your money’s worth.

And to top it off, as the bonus, they have one of the best deliveries. They manage to deliver all these great foods right to your door while still warm and at their best.

So, the next time you want to have a lovely dinner in Richmond Hill, take our advice and give Haida a try if you have not. You will not be disappointed.
