TEHRAN – The 17th Tehran International Tourism and Related Industries Exhibition will open today (Monday) where some 11 countries are to attend it.

TEHRAN (Iran News) Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Ali-Asghar Shalbafan in a press conference said that the exhibition will open as of today at the Tehran International Permanent Fairground with the presence of tourism industry activists from Russia, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Tajikistan, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Sri Lanka.

Shalbafan noted that 69 foreign travel agencies except those which have pavilions in the exhibition have announced readiness to attend the event and they are mostly from cities of Kazan and Saint Petersburg of Russia.

He also said that Georgian Secretary General of UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the ECO Ambassador Khusrov Noziri, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan Mr. Umid Shadiev as well as some managers from the OIC are to attend the event.

He went on to say that the 4-day event will be one of the biggest exhibitions in Iran and it will be held in 20 halls in an area around 60,000 square meters.

Shalibafan went on to say that 982 pavilions will be set up at 9 halls for tourism activists from provinces, 9 halls will be allocated to the knowledge-based organs and one hall will be also allocated for the health tourism because health tourism is important for Iran and it will be one of the special sections of the exhibition.

He further said that over 1500 investment opportunities as well as 600 investment packages will be available in the exhibition. He stated that some workshops and educational courses will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition.

Shalibafan went on to say that by the way on Thursday city of Yazd will host the meeting of ambassadors of the Islamic countries.
