The United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts has accepted the Islamic Republic of Iran as an official member.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –The United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts has accepted the Islamic Republic of Iran as an official member.

The United Nations Convention with a focus on the use of electronic communications in international contracts was approved by the Iranian Parliament at the initiation of the E-Commerce Development Center and in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tasnim reported.

As one of the members of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), Iran signed the United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts and joined the convention.

With the launch of legal preliminaries of Iran’s membership in this convention, a bright future is established in the development of electronic documents between Iran and other member states.

Adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 23 November 2005, the United Nations Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts aims to enhance legal certainty and commercial predictability where electronic communications are used in relation to international contracts.
