D-8 International University to boost ties with Malaysian universities
The D-8 International University has signed a memorandum of understanding and a memorandum of cooperation with five Malaysian universities.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –The D-8 International University has signed a memorandum of understanding and a memorandum of cooperation with five Malaysian universities.

D-8, also known as Developing-8, is an organization for development cooperation among eight Islamic nations, namely Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.

The agreements were signed in the city of Hamedan on Sunday with the Malaysian universities of UM, UPM, UKM, UiTM, and UMPSA.

In 2019, the D-8 International University was inaugurated in Iran.

Mohamed Khald bin Nordin, Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia; Mukhtar Ahmed, the chairman of Pakistan Higher Education Commission; Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam, the Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation; Abdul Razak Ahmad, the head of Education Malaysia Global Services; and Peyman Salehi, the Iranian deputy science minister, attended the signing ceremony.

The establishment of D-8 was announced officially through the Istanbul Declaration of Summit of Heads of State/Government on June 15, 1997.

The Organization aims to create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at the international level, and improve standards of living in the member states.

D-8 International University (D8IU) was established to generate, promote, and develop cooperation among the member states through interaction between universities and students, and the goal was for the member states to achieve a reasonable international share from these interactions.

Recognizing the needs and challenges faced by member states, the university also seeks to provide necessary support to ensure educational equity and opportunities for all students.

By facilitating an inclusive and equitable learning environment, D8IU strives to establish educational justice as a fundamental principle for all member states.
