TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iranians have always through the history proved that they are peace-loving nation and they will not start any war but if they are attacked by the aliens, they will show their gusts and bravery and will bring down the enemies to their knees and after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, this spirit of bravery and resistance against bullies and invasions has been reinforced through belief in the Islamic values.

On Thursday September 22, the Islamic Republic of Iran will start marking the Sacred Defense Week by holding some military parades, exhibitions and programs. The Sacred Defense Week is an Iranian annual commemoration of the 1980–1988 Iran–Iraq War .It is marked by different programs to remind the new generation of the braveries of sons of this territory in the past. It is set by the Iranian calendar and begins on Shahrivar 31, September 22.

In 1980 and when the Islamic Revolution was just strengthening its footpath in Iran and the country was gradually being cleared of the former regime’s elements, it was invaded by Iraq Dictator Saddam Hussein Forces. The Iraqi dictator tore up the 1975 Algerian agreement by appearing in front of Iraqi television cameras, announcing the start of the Ba’athist regime’s invasion of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He thought that Iran was in weak and shaky position because of the revolution and therefore he tried to expand Iraq’s land and seize some southern areas of Iran but he never thought of an all-out resistance and fight from Iranians.

At that time, Iraqi forces were reinforced by the Western arms and fighter jets and Iran was alone and it had to fight with its normal arms existing in the country. While Iraq used to get sophisticated weapons, Iran just resorted to the belief of its brave fighters like its 13-year old Martyr Hossein Fahmideh to repel attacks.

But Iranians through unity and bravery repelled the Iraqi forces and they forced Iraqis to accept the UN Resolution and it was just a beginning for the victory of Islamic Revolution and collapse of Saddam Hussein.

Now after almost for decades since that imposed war, the Islamic Republic of Iran has turned into a powerful country in the region and it is now self-sufficient in its weapons and no country dares to attack at it.

Consecutive achievements on military section like producing different kinds of missiles especially the ballistic ones as well as amazing progress in manufacturing different types of drones and  achievements have put the country in a position that even big powers do not dare to have ill-wishes against the country.

Now the country is preparing to mark the week while it has progressed considerably comparing to the beginning of war in 1980. Iran has now turned into a major arms exporter and in case sanctions are lifted, it can earn huge amount of forex through exporting its arms to those countries which need it.

This year’s Sacred Defense Week will be held in different climate as the country is in talks for the revival of the JCPOA and it is under sanctions but Iranians have proved this point that they will not bow to any pressure as they resisted during eight years of war with Iraqi forces by sacrificing thousands brave fighters.

Now the belief among Iranians has become much stronger and they have great trust on their military capabilities and they can put on play their military achievements and products in the parades on the occasion of the week to show the independent countries in the world that if there is a will there is a way and if you want to be independent and seek freedom, you have to fight for it even you face hardship but the outcome will be sweet, and independence and grandeur will be the major achievements of this fight as Iranians did it and do it against the invaders and ill-wishers.

So on Thursday Iranians will pay homage to the founder of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini who cherished this belief among the nation and to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei who continued his path after his demise and sailed the country safely to the shore of victory and grandeur.
