Iran, Russia to Create Joint Free Zone
It was late in the spring that Russian President’s special representative, the CEO of Lotus Special Economic Zone of Russia’s Astrakhan Mr. Sergey Milushkin, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Mr. Oleg Savchenko and their entourage had different meetings with Vice-President and Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones Mr. Saeed Mohammad and during the meetings both sides called for broadening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with reliance on capacities in Iran’s free zones.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –  It was late in the spring that Russian President’s special representative, the CEO of Lotus Special Economic Zone of Russia’s Astrakhan Mr. Sergey Milushkin, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Mr. Oleg Savchenko and their entourage had different meetings with Vice-President and Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones Mr. Saeed Mohammad and during the meetings both sides called for broadening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with reliance on capacities in Iran’s free zones.

According to reports, after those meetings Russian President Vladimir Putin ratified the law for the additional protocol to the free zone agreement between Eurasian Union and Iran.

This agreement includes essential trade laws between Eurasian Economic Union and Iran and it is very close to the WTO laws.  In the agreement both sides are committed to reduce or even remove custom tariffs and other non-custom problems for some goods in line with encouraging economic cooperation between the two sides.

Mohammad termed creation of a joint free zone between Iran and Russia as one of the future goals of the council and emphasized that according to the plans, this will materialize in near future.
