Tehran, Rome Seek Developing Cooperation on Cooperatives
In an online meeting, Head of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives (ICC) and Head of Italian Association of industrial and service cooperatives (Legacoop) both explored ways to develop and broaden cooperation on cooperatives.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – In an online meeting, Head of Iran Chamber of Cooperatives (ICC) and Head of Italian Association of industrial and service cooperatives (Legacoop) both explored ways to develop and broaden cooperation on cooperatives.

In the meeting, Head of ICC Mr. Bahman Abdollahi expressed his satisfaction over the online meeting and acquaintance with the Legacoop and briefed his Italian counterpart of the capabilities of Iran’s cooperatives sector.

He said that due to the significance of cooperatives in Iran, the ICC has been the parliament of national cooperatives sector and head of ICC attends all national economic councils which make macro decisions in the country.

Abdollahi added that Iran’s population is over 84m that over 11m are the members of the cooperatives and there are over 100,000 active cooperatives in the country.

Then Director of Legacoop Mr. Giancarlo Ferrari, for his part, expressed his satisfaction over getting acquainted with the head of ICC and said that Iran and Italy enjoy having historic culture and they have good relations.

He then pointed to the capabilities of the cooperatives sector in Italy and said both countries should help the growth and development of the bilateral economic ties based on the cooperatives principle and multilateralism.

He noted that due to the historic reserves, cooperation of the two countries in the ICA can grow more and they can share their experiences.

Then Abdollahi pointed to the good political relation between Tehran and Rome and said comparing to other European countries, the tie between Iran and Italy is very good and this can help a great deal to the co-operations between the two states in the cooperation sector.
