MAPNA Delivers First Batch of MAP24 Locomotives to MSC
In a ceremony held on Sunday, MAPNA Group delivered the first batch of MAP24 locomotives to Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) and the contract for manufacture and supply of 50 MAP24 freight locomotives came into effect.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –  In a ceremony held on Sunday, MAPNA Group delivered the first batch of MAP24 locomotives to Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) and the contract for manufacture and supply of 50 MAP24 freight locomotives came into effect.

Addressing the ceremony which was held at MAPNA Locomotive Engineering and Manufacturing Company (MLC)’s plant, Head of MAPNA Group Mr. Abbas Aliabadi said that according to the contents of the signed agreement, 50 freight locomotives will be delivered to Mobarakeh Steel Company by next December.

He went on to say that today products of MAPNA Group are supplied to big companies of the country which is an outstanding move for providing the domestic needs. He noted that in the past, the cooperation between MAPNA and MSC was not organized but today they see cohesion between these two mega industrial complexes.

Aliabadi stated that over 90% of parts of MAP24 locomotives with 3,300 horse power have been designed and produced by the domestic experts and it competes with imported locomotives in terms of quality. He went on to say that all repairs and overhaul of this locomotive are done in the country and the cost of repairs and productions has been reduced to its lowest point.

He pointed to the advantages of MAP24 locomotive and said that since locomotive is considered an expensive machine, its manufacture, repair and maintenance inside the country is considered a big advantage. Je reiterated that one of the advantages of this locomotive comparing to the imported locomotives is its open cabin and easy driving.

Aliabai said that design and manufacture of this product is divided into five major sections of chassis and body of the locomotive, bogies, electric and control system, system of power transfer and braking system. He reiterated that the process of production has now become much easier and the pace of manufacture has increased.

He noted so far 20 MAP24 locomotives have joined the national rail network and five more are getting ready to come on stream.
