Iran Ready to Connect Electricity Grid to Azerbaijan, Russia
Energy minister said that studies have been carried out on the cooperation between Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia in electricity and announced Iran's readiness to start collaboration on connecting the electricity grid to the Republic of Azerbaijan and Russia.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran Ready to Connect Electricity Grid to Azerbaijan, Russia. Energy minister said that studies have been carried out on the cooperation between Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia in electricity and announced Iran’s readiness to start collaboration on connecting the electricity grid to the Republic of Azerbaijan and Russia.

Ali-Akbar Mehrabian, in the meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Alizadeh, announced Iran’s readiness to expand relations in the water and energy sector, noting that the two countries can increase economic exchanges.

He noted that there is a possibility for enhancing economic exchanges between Tehran and Baku like the issue of Aras River and the two countries need to pursue the activities in the form of the joint cooperation.

Mehrabian noted that the joint technical commission of Iran and Baku to be formed and to introduce Iran’s representative to the commission, underling that the commission should review issues and permanent joint cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan.

Underlining Azerbaijan’s determination to develop relations with Iran, the Azerbaijani Ambassador said: “We want all the backlogs in the energy sector to be compensated.”

He went on to say that in line with bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, Azerbaijan will complete the projects of Khoda  Afarin and Qiz Qalehsi dams and a joint technical commission by the two countries has convened.

He underlined that Azerbaijan is keen to compensate in all delayed projects.
