TEHRAN (Iran News) – Secretary of Presiding Board of Tabriz Chamber of Commerce Mr. Reza Kami says the major obstacle in way of trade between Iran and Turkey is the transfer of money and emphasized that joint venture and joint production is the best way for expanding trade ties between the two countries.
In meeting with commercial attache of Turkey’s consulate in Tabriz, Mr. Kami said currently Turkish investors are busy in different provinces of Iran especially in East Azarbaijan that Tabriz Chamber of Commerce has played a key role in this bilateral connection.
He reiterated the existing problems have not let the trade between the two countries hit $30b while everybody knows that in the past the bilateral trade between the two states hardly hit $22m.
He then pointed to the cultural and social commonalities between the two countries and said Tabriz is the focal point in Iran’s trade with Turkey and there have been always strong bond between the traders of Tabriz and Turkey.
Kami also called for presenting and educating regulations regarded to the business for the economic activists of the other sides and called for resolving the current problems at Bazargan check points and referring them to the Turkish officials.
Then Turkish commercial attache at Turkey’s consulate in Tabriz Mr. Tahir Dingil, for his part, blamed the pandemic as the main reason for the decline in the trade exchanges and exchange of trade delegations between the two states and said now with reopening of borders, it is possible to exchange trade delegations.
Regarding the current problems at the Bazargan border check point, he said this problem will be definitely reported to the officials in Ankara and solution for them will be asked.
He also emphasized getting required information by traders of both sides and reiterated that traders of the two countries should put aside the short-term trade approach and seek a long-term one.
He also called for resolving major problems for bilateral trade like the problem of money transfer and lack of information about the laws and regulations of trade by both sides.
Then Dingil and Kami called for holding bilateral wbinars between the business activists of the two state as well as exchange of trade delegations.
