Russia:suspicious marine accidents aim to press new Iranian government
Head of Russian Geopolitical Studies Academy Constantine Siokov said on Wednesday that the recent marine incidents are aimed to put the new Iranian government under pressure.

TEHRAN (Iran News) –  Head of Russian Geopolitical Studies Academy Constantine Siokov said on Wednesday that the recent marine incidents are aimed to put the new Iranian government under pressure.

Speaking to IRNA, Siokov said that there is no sign of Iran having a hand neither in the accident for the tanker near UAE waters nor in the incident in the accident for the ship in Oman Sea.

He said that the western countries, the US and Britain in particular, blame Iran for the incidents while international law stresses that no country can be blamed without providing strong and credible documents.

He enumerated some reasons that Iran cannot be behind the recent marine incidents.

The first reason is that Iran is in negotiations with G4+1 for the revival of JCPOA, Siokov said, adding that Iran hopes that the deal would be revived so that the unlawful sanctions on the country would be lifted.

He said that the second reason that Iran is not behind the incidents is that Rouhani is handing over the government to Raisi and the enemies of Iran can put heavy pressure on the new Iranian government by raising such accusations.

As a third reason he referred to the plotting nature of the British government, noting that it was the British agencies that first announced the news of the incidents.

He also said that Iran favors stability and security in its nearby waters and this is a fourth reason that the country does not want to jeopardize the free shipping in these waters.
