Director General of Improving Quality, Processing and Promoting the Market of Aquatic Animals Department of Iran Fisheries Organization says according to the statistics, Iran exported 6,210 tons of canned fish in the last Iranian calendar year which ended on March 21 and it earned the country some $24m.
Speaking to IRNA, Isa Golshahi said that Iran exported some 6,210 tons of the canned fish in the past Iranian year which earned the country some $24m while the figure in the preceding year was some 3,115 tons with the approximate value of $15m.
He went on to say that the canned fish is exported to countries and it can help the factories especially those factories which use the imported fish in their products.
Golshahi noted that some part of the produced canned fish in the country is exported annually to Iraq, CIS states, the Persian Gulf countries and Armenia. He reiterated the price of the canned fish is determined by the direct factor of the price of can, oil, salt and fish as well as indirect factor of expenses like salary, energy and transportation.
He reiterated that in recent years, the price of the raw material for producing fish has drastically soared and subsequently the price of the canned fish has increased in the country.
He refuted reports on the decline in demand for the canned fish in the country and said that it may happen in some certain parts of some provinces and it cannot be generalized, reiterating that there has been no fall in the canned fish production in the factories.
Iran’s fishery production has increased noticeably in the country in the recent years and it is its production to surpass 1.5m tons this year and its exports to face considerable rise.
