Iranians Proud of Peaceful Coexistence of Different Religions and Ethnics
Homayoon Sameh Yeh Najafabadi, a Jewish MP and representative of the Jewish community in the Iranian parliament, in meeting with Australia’s Ambassador to Tehran Ms. Lyndall Sachs pointed to the relations of the two countries despite ups and downs in some periods of time and said the Islamic Republic of Iran and Australia for long time have had enjoyed good relations and it is hoped the interactions between the two states would increase.

Homayoon Sameh Yeh Najafabadi, a Jewish MP and representative of the Jewish community in the Iranian parliament, in meeting with Australia’s Ambassador to Tehran Ms. Lyndall Sachs pointed to the relations of the two countries despite ups and downs in some periods of time and said the Islamic Republic of Iran and Australia for long time have had enjoyed good relations and it is hoped the interactions between the two states would increase.

Najafabadi said parliamentary cooperation is effective factor on increasing the interactions between Iran and Australia, adding that Iran’s Majlis welcomes developing parliamentary relations with Australia and emphasized strengthening parliamentary relations.

The representatives of the Jewish community in Iran went on to say that the peaceful coexistence of different religions and ethnics in Iran is very important that for long time, religions and Iranian ethnics have been proud of it.

Najafabadi noted that despite supports and efforts of the Islamic Republic regarding the religious minorities and their representatives in Majlis, economic problems due to the pandemic and cruel unilateral U.S. sanctions have put them in hard situation. He added although there are small problems in the country, they like the problems are resolved inside and it needs no foreign interferences.

He then invited Ms. Sachs to visit the religious minorities’ communities in Iran.

Then Australian Ambassador to Tehran, for her part, said Iran is a safe place for ethnics and minority  religions, adding that other religions’ practitioners in Iran do their religious affairs like Muslims.

She also assessed friendly the interactions and relation between Iran and Australia and called the cooperation between the two states positive. She also said that reinforcing diplomatic parliamentary ties is effective for advancing bilateral cooperation and expressed hope on improvement of ties.

Sachs also said that cooperation between ethnics and religions in the countries leads to expansion of bilateral interactions in different fields of cultural, social and political, and welcomed improving the level of ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and cooperation with the religious minorities.
