Iran’s strong naval presence thwarts threats to territorial waters

TEHRAN (Iran News) –Iran’s strong naval presence thwarts threats to territorial waters. Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi says the enemies of Iran do not dare violate the country’s territorial waters thanks to the powerful presence of the naval forces of the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in international waters.

Khanzadi made the remarks in a meeting with senior commanders of the Iranian Navy and the IRGC’s naval forces held in the port city of Bandar Abbas on Wednesday, which focused on exploring ways to increase synergy between the two forces. Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the IRGC Navy, was also present in the meeting.

Khanzadi said that Iran’s enemies are aware of the fact that they would receive a crushing response if they pose any threat to the country.
“The current security in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman and international waters has been created by the constant and strong presence of the naval forces of the Army and the IRGC,” the senior commander added.
He emphasized that enhanced interaction and synergy between the Army and the IRGC would be very important since such cooperation would “thwart any destabilizing measures by extra-regional countries and maintain sustainable security in this strategic region.”

Tangsiri, for his part, said the naval forces of the two forces enjoy high unity and interaction, which would further boost security in Iran and across the region.

In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems. Iran says its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.A senior commander said in October that the naval forces of Iran’s Army and the IRGC have formed a strong “defense chain” from the north of the Persian Gulf to the Northern Indian Ocean, which stands ready to respond to any threat and act of aggression against the country.
