TEHRAN (Iran News) – Swiss Ambassador to Tehran Markus Leitner in the meeting with the Head of Red Crescent Fraction of Iran’s Majlis Ali Asghar Baqerzadeh emphasized the role of parliaments in strengthening the ties and called for bolstering friendly relations with Iran.
In the meeting, Baqerzadeh pointed to the record of good relations between Iran and Switzerland and said Iranian people have a good mindset about Switzerland and they know Switzerland as an impartial and independent country in the scene of international affairs.
He then criticized the U.S. bullying and its violation of international laws and treaties like the JCPOA and imposing inhuman and cruel sanctions during the pandemic against the countries, added that the main concerns of lawmakers in Majlis are to help the government to find necessary mechanisms for purchase and easy access of the people to the COVID-19 vaccine.
He then pointed to good cooperation of both countries in humanitarian issues in the region, saying that this cooperation through the humanitarian capacities of Iran’s Red Crescent Society and International Committee of the Red Cross has had positive results for the people in the region and in the decrease of conflicts and in helping the war-torn people in different countries, and it has been effective.
Then Leitner, for his part, pointed to the effective position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region, noting that expansion of relation between parliaments of the two countries has an important role in knowing capacities and development of cooperation in different issues of mutual interest.
The Swiss diplomat also underscored that Switzerland has always pursued the policy of impartiality in its foreign policy and has tried to help the expansion of peace and friendship among countries and for this reason it launched its financial mechanism for humanitarian trade to save the JCPOA.
Leitner then underscored the cooperation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Iran and called for the expansion of ties between Iran and Switzerland in humanitarian affairs.
