Int’l Trade Plays Key Role for Iran’s Free Economic Zones
International trade plays a key role in Iran’s free zones, adding that free zones in Iran have been launched before their infrastructures to be prepared and most of the revenues of these zones are spent on improving the infrastructures.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Advisor to President and Secretary of the Supreme Council of Iran’s Free Trade, Industrial and Special Economic Zones says international trade plays a key role in Iran’s free economic zones, adding that free zone in Iran have been launched before their infrastructures to be prepared and most of the revenues of these zones are spent on improving the infrastructures.

Mr. Bank, who was in the Maku Free Zone for a two day-visit to inaugurate some projects, in the meeting with economic activists and officials of Maku zone said that the main advantages of free zones, first of all, belong to the native people of the zone and they feel it better than non-residents.

He reiterated that Iran pursues the policy of developing free economic zones, noting that sanctions and economic problems have led the economic development in each zone to become endogenous.

Mr. Bank also inaugurated the 97-hectare project of the city of Bazargan in Zone B. He also during his two-day visit inaugurated 2 production units with 800b rials of investments at the industrial park No.1 of Maku.

Addressing the inaugural ceremonies of these two apparel production units, Mr. Bank said that by supporting the investors in the free economic zones, the zones can turn into exporting areas. He said these two production units create 300 jobs.

Mr. Bank further said one of these units was launched with a foreign investment worth $3m.
