TEHRAN (Iran News) – Appreciating people for full observance of health protocols during the mourning ceremony and also the anniversary of the martyrdom of General Soleimani, Iran’s President said, “Coronavirus was not a common disease but a pandemic that spread almost all over the world and was a historical test for nations and the leader of different countries”.

Speaking on Saturday at the meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, President Hassan Rouhani said that among all the countries affected by COVID-19, the countries whose people have cooperated more in observing health protocols and trusting their leaders have been more successful.

He added, “Fortunately, with the good cooperation of the people and the efforts made by all organs and institutions, we had good success in different waves of the spread of this disease in the country”.

In this regard, the President pointed out the importance of the role of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution in this success and said, “At the beginning of the outbreak of this disease, the Supreme Leader emphasized the observance of health protocols and tasked everyone to do so, and he himself fully complied with the protocols, which was a model for the country and for all of us, and was very effective”.

The President continued saying that ignoring the dangers of Coronavirus is a great problem and danger for the coming months and said, “The cold season, air pollution and the mutated virus are great dangers that we face in the coming days and weeks, so I ask you, dear people, to pay more attention and care these days so that we can overcome these problems”.

“Some countries, when faced with the epidemic of the virus, were only concerned with economic issues and did not pay attention to it, and the result was more problems for the people and their economy,” he continued.

Dr. Rouhani added, “During this period, there were countries that, because they did not encounter this pandemic from the beginning, ridiculed other countries, but soon they were also infected”.

“There were some countries that went against the virus under strict police conditions and thought they could eradicate the virus in a short time, but after a while, they realized that it did not work,” the president said.

Dr. Rouhani stated that some of the leaders of the countries also basically ridiculed the protocols that were announced, saying, “Among all these countries, the country where the people cooperated and had more trust in their leaders, and the leaders paid special attention to it, and were more successful and therefore we saw good success was Iran”.

The President said, “In the third wave, with the hard work of all organs, we were able to control coronavirus faster than others predicted, and today, except for 4 red cities, we are witnessing relatively better conditions throughout the country, while Europe and the United States are still in the uptrend of the virus”.

Dr. Rouhani also stated that in the success of our country, we must pay special attention to the role of our dear Supreme Leader, and said, “At the beginning of the outbreak of this disease, the Supreme Leader emphasized the observance of health protocols and tasked everyone to do so, and he himself fully complied with the protocols, which was a model for the country and for all of us, and was very effective”.

The President stressed, “We must pay attention that achieving a declining trend for the economy, culture, education and social relations of society is much more difficult, costly and time-consuming, while due to non-observance and holding of all family and national and religious ceremonies, the disease conditions are rapidly escalating, and we will probably face another wave in February and March”.

Dr. Rouhani pointed out, “The cost of the disease outbreak in late February and March is much heavier because the economic and business activities of some people depend on the end of the [Iranian] year, so we must carefully create conditions that businesses can use the opportunity of the year-end”.
