Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the government has fulfilled every promise made to the Iranian people during his presidency in the last 7 years.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Speaking in a press conference with domestic and foreign media reporters on Monday, President Rouhani said, “Our promise was moderation, constructive interaction with the world, the lifting of sanctions on the people, and the registration of nuclear rights for the Iranian people,”

“We took over the government in the face of stagflation with a negative growth of 7.7 percent and inflation of above 30 percent. In 2014, we both achieved economic growth and reduced inflation to about 15 percent” Rouhani noted.

Stating that the government had the lowest oil revenue in 2014, he added, “During the last 7 years,  the country had the best conditions in terms of reducing inflation in the three years of 2015, 2016, and 2017. In these 7 years, we have fulfilled every promise we made to the people.”

“The actions we took during this period were good economic management,” he added.

Iranian President went on to say, “We were able to save the country from severe inflation and become self-sufficient in energy, gas, gasoline, and diesel.”

“For the first time in our government, the gas and sweet gas production in the country reached one billion cubic meters per day. We have been able to make good progress in the common areas of gas and oil.”

“Our situation has improved in important areas such as agriculture and industry as well,” Rouhani highlighted.

President noted, “We had very important inaugurations during the current year, despite the coronavirus conditions, and we will have these kinds of inaugurations until the end of our government.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani referred to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying, “Despite certain efforts to paralyze the JCPOA, the document managed to stand up against the US President Donald Trump and make the United Nations resist the US administration and Trump himself for three times.”

“There may be some flaws in the JCPOA, but relatively speaking, it is a very historical agreement in Iran’s history,” he said, adding that he knows “no country, in the history of the region to have negotiated with six major powers and achieved success under the imposed sanctions.”

Rouhani said that some wanted to destroy the JCPOA but Iranian officials managed to maintain it.

“One of Iran’s objectives is to achieve its goals in the field of nuclear and people’s rights. The end of the imposed sanctions means that Iranians can achieve one of their rights,” he said.
