TEHRAN (Iran News) – Police in French city of Lyon fired tear gas as hundreds of ‘Yellow Vest’ protesters took to the streets on Saturday, despite a ban on demonstrations in the city center.

People were seen throwing projectiles at police, that in turn responded with tear gas before clearing the area around Bellecour Square.

Eight people were taken into custody, according to local reports.

The ‘Yellow Vest’ movement began as a grassroots citizen protest in November 2018 and quickly spread across mainland France, with participants demanding what they see as economic and social justice.
