TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s defense minister inaugurated a factory producing Teflon cables with application in military and civilian industries.

In the opening of the factory in the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi on Tuesday, Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said the Teflon-coated cables are one of the highly-used components in the military industries and are also utilized in the non-military sector.

The minister said the domestic automotive industry would benefit from the homegrown Teflon wires.

The new factory fulfills the country’s demand for Teflon cable, Hatami added.

In remarks in August, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri hailed the country’s defense industry as an inspiring model for the other industrial and the economic sectors, saying the Islamic Republic has attained self-sufficiency in developing various defense products.
