TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran’s aluminum production reached 211,779 tons during the first six months of the current Iranian year (Mar. 20, 2020-Sept. 21, 2020), showing a 71 percent growth compared to the corresponding period last year.
“Iran Aluminum Company (IRALCO) topped the list with 95,723 tons of the total output,” according to the latest data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported Fars News Agency.
IRALCO was followed by Hormozal Aluminum Company, with 45,444 tons, Almahdi Aluminum Company, with 33,988 tons, SALCO, with 25,000 tons, and Iran Alumina, with 11,227 tons.
Iran plans to reach the annual production of 1.5 million tons of aluminum ingot by 2025.
In early August, former caretaker of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Hossein Modarres-Khiabani, said that Iran had increased aluminum production by 50 percent despite the tough economic conditions caused by illegal sanctions.
Modarres-Khiabani said on August 6 that the production sector will strongly continue the path of progress even in the toughest economic conditions.
Iran’s aluminum production capacity will increase by more than 60 percent this year compared to last year, based on the country’s Mine and Mining Industries Roadmap (2018-21).
