Rouhani: Government Won’t Allow Sanctions to Hinder Development
Rouhani said on Tuesday that the government will not allow the economic problems caused by the sanctions and coronavirus outbreak to affect the country’s economic development.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that the government will not allow the economic problems caused by the sanctions and coronavirus outbreak to affect the country’s economic development.

Rouhani said, “We should not allow economic momentum, such as sanctions or the problems caused by coronavirus, to slow down the pace of the country’s development and damage the household economy and the livelihood of the people,” the president’s official website reported.

Addressing a meeting of the government’s economic coordination headquarters, he noted that government has attempted to develop and implement meticulous plans in two important fields of macroeconomy and household economy.

Rouhani said that the government has granted loans to households and businessmen affected by the coronavirus restrictions to compensate the damages inflicted to the livelihood of the vulnerable people and businesses.

Since 2018, the United States has illegally reimposed sanctions on Iran following its unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement.

The sanctions have damaged Iran’s relations with the world and the country’s economy.

The problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic have also complicated the country’s economic woes in recent months.
