TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian Ambassador to China said Tehran seeks to boost bilateral ties with members of the “One Belt, One Road” project, particularly China that is the initiator of the project.
Mohammad Keshavarz-Zadeh made the remarks on Saturday at the opening ceremony of the fifth cultural exhibition of the Colorful World in Beijing, Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported.
He stressed that cultural relations between Iran and China will continue to expand despite the outbreak of coronavirus.
The ambassador also expressed hope that Iran and China will boost bilateral relations in various fields, including cultural and trade activities after the containment of COVID-19.
The One Belt, One Road Project, or the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, was originally introduced to the world by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013. The Chinese government calls the initiative “a bid to enhance regional connectivity and embrace a brighter future”.
Keshavarz-Zadeh further reviewed Iran’s cultural capabilities and invited the participants to visit the Iranian pavilion in the exhibition.
Iran has taken part in the six-day exhibition to display its artifacts and handicrafts, as well as other products including tableau rugs and saffron.
The ongoing exhibition is highly significant as it is the first major cultural event being held in China in the 10 last months after the coronavirus pandemic.
Referring to Iran role to promote the East-West Corridor, the ambassador said, “Iran and China are both significant countries and are able to expand their collaboration in the energy and infrastructure sectors as well as land, sea and air communications.”
