TEHRAN – Iran has exported different types of apparel worth over $35m to 29 countries in the first five months of the current year.

Spokesperson for Iran’s Customs Office Ruhollah Latifi said that over 4527 tons of different types of apparel worth over $35m exported to 29 countries in the first five months. He added that the number of countries for export of Iran’s apparel has increased this year.

Latifi said that last year Afghanistan, Russia, Iraq and Yemen were the only destinations for Iran’s apparel exports.

He noted that currently the number of destinations has increased and Iran’s apparel is exported to Iraq, Kuwait, Australia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, South Korea, Japan, the UAE, UK, Venezuela, Ivory Coast, Italy, Turkey, Canada, Qatar, Oman, Nigeria, Switzerland, Pakistan, Georgia, Spain and Denmark.

On the amount of imported apparel, he said that although commercial import of apparel is banned but the amount of imported apparel by passengers or parcels has been around $515,000.
