TEHRAN (Iran News) – First joint tourism committee meeting between Iran and Russia, which focused on technical questions about tourism cooperation between the two countries, was held in the form of a webinar on Saturday.

The Iranian delegation was led by Mohammad Qassemi, director general for Iran’s Tourism Marketing and Promotion, and Demyan Smilevets, the head of the International Cooperation Department of the Federal Agency for Tourism, led the Russian delegation.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, inked a visa-free agreement for tourist groups on March 28, 2017. Based on the agreement, tour groups of five to 50 people heading toward Russia from Iran, or vice versa, will be granted a visa-free stay of up to 15 days.

To implement it, it was necessary to set up a joint action plan to specify the process. The joint action plan of the two countries has been prepared for the three-year period, 2020-2022, which can be extended and revised.
