Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the peak of the coronavirus pandemic has been over in ten provinces with critical conditions.

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the peak of the coronavirus pandemic has been over in ten provinces with critical conditions.

Pointing to the promising reports about the pandemic in various Iranian provinces, Rouhani praised the people for observing the health protocols and noted that compliance with the health regulations will bring about stability and calm in the country in the coming days.

Strict measures to contain the disease are obligatory and must continue until an acceptable coronavirus vaccine becomes available, the president added.

No province in Iran has experienced a second peak after getting through the first coronavirus pandemic peak, he noted, saying if the observance of health tips continue, people will hear good news in the coming weeks.

The president also said the governors of provinces with a faster pace of the spread of the infectious disease have been given authority to make the necessary decisions at the provincial headquarters to tackle the pandemic.

In remarks on Tuesday, Iran’s minister of health said he has good news about a homegrown vaccine for the coronavirus disease, adding that Iran is catching up with advanced countries in vaccine production.

The Health Ministry announced on Friday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has risen to 304,204, of whom more than 263,000 have recovered from the infection or have been discharged from hospitals.

More than 2,457,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
