Iranian Experts Repair Heavy Aircraft, CAO Says

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian technicians have acquired the know-how and capability to repair and overhaul heavy aircraft, said the head of the Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) of Iran.

“Today, the repair and maintenance operations of different aircraft, from light to heavy, are carried out by the specialists and experts of the [domestic] aviation industry,” Touraj Dehqani-Zanganeh added, Fars News Agency reported.

He noted that several new technology-based firms in the country produce the most complicated parts needed by the domestic aviation industry.

In February, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami announced that the country has implemented important measures in the aviation sector that prove its self-confidence in the face of the US sanctions.

“The overhauled jets are among F-4, F-14, F-27, Sukhoi and Mirage models, as well as C-130 and 707 civil aircraft,” Brigadier General Hatami said in a ceremony where eight domestically-overhauled military aircraft were delivered to the Iranian Army on February 20.

The defense minister also noted that the tech-savvy countries have refused to provide Iran’s Air Force with even the smallest spare parts and services it needs, in fear of the threats uttered by the US and its allies, Washington’s tough unilateral sanctions on Tehran and an ongoing all-out economic war against the Islamic Republic over the past 40 years.

He, however, said Iran has employed important measures in the aviation field that prove its self-confidence in neutralizing the sanctions.

Hatami stressed that the “complicated” process of overhauling military jets is monopolized by some powerful countries.

He appreciated the Iranian government’s support for boosting Iran’s defense power and thanked managers, experts, and scientists working in the domestic aviation industry.
