Iran Trade With EAEU Hits $2.1b

TEHRAN – Spokesman of the Islamic Republic of Iran says the trade volume of Iran with Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) since November has exceeded $2.1b
Speaking to ILNA on the foreign trade of the country, Rouhollah Latifi said that the volume of Iran’s trade with EAEU states since November has surpassed $2.11b, and over $1.528b of the total amount account for Iran’s imports and $583.4m account for exports.
Latifi reiterated some $1.12b of trade with EAEU states, which is 53 percent of total trade, has been based on preferential trade agreement, some exemptions and discounts.
He added that some $966.3m of Iran’s imports have been based on the preferential trade agreement which weighed almost 3.1m tons.
Latifi further said Russia has been the major export destination for Iran among the EAEU Economic Union states with 53 percent, and Armenia with 23 percent and Kazakhstan with 16 percent are the other major destinations while Iran has had the lowest export to Kyrgyzstan with 1.5 percent of its exports to the union.
He added that Iran had its most imports from Russia with 78.5 percent of its total imports while Kazakhstan with 18 percent, Belarus with 2 percent were the other major exporters to Iran and Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan with less than one percent had the lowest share in exports to Iran.
On the items which were imported from the union states, he said most of the imported goods from those states have been basic goods, adding that barely has been the major imported item from the union and wheat, corn, oil seeds and red meat have been the other imports.
On the export items, Latifi said pistachio, kiwi and dried grape have been the major exports of Iran to those states.
