TEHRAN- Industry, Mine and Trade Minister says people do not need to concern about the shortage of essential commodities in the market because stores are full of commodities and borders are open for trade.

In the meeting with Majlis National Security Commission, Mr. reza Rahmani pointed to some measures taken by his ministry regarding the provision of essential goods for people as well as hygienic goods related to protection against the Coronavirus.

He said that the ministry in cooperation with producers has boosted production of some certain goods and food stuff and a real surge in production has happened in this period.

He added that production of industrial mask has increased from 200,000 per day to one million per day that some part of the masks are produced in workshops and charity houses and it means the production has been five-folded.

He added that some 3m masks are also produced in other sectors and the remaining is imported and currently 120m masks have been ordered to be imported into the country soon.

On the shortage of essential commodities, he said people should not be concerned about the essential goods because all stores are full and there is no problem in the market.

Rahmani reiterated that despite problems which have been created by the Coronavirus outbreak, the ministry has taken major steps for materializing the surge in production outlook.

He added that the ministry has plans to indigenize goods worth $.3.5 in order to cut dependence on imports and to boost domestic production.

On exports and closure of borders, Rahmani noted that fortunately all borders for exports are currently open and exporters have no problem for continuing their exports.

He reiterated that the ministry, like last year, is determined to provide country’s forex through exports.

Rahmani added that the ministry is determined to focus on expansion of technology and knowledge-based products and current pressures and sanctions is the best opportunity to take advantage and help domestic production.

He stated that the ministry is determined to manage imports and to strengthen national products, adding that the current trend of non-oil exports to the neighboring countries will be kept and exports will be reinforced.
