Coronavirus Has No Affected Iran-Russia Trade

TEHRAN – Chairman of Iran-Russia joint chamber of commerce Hadi Tizhoush Taban says recent outbreak of Coronavirus has not affected Iran-Russia trade because all routes for trade with Russia are open.
Speaking to ILNA, Tizhoush Taban said that the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Agreement has been definitely to the benefit of Russian economic activists because they enjoy better conditions and advantages comparing to their Iranian counterparts.
On the latest condition of Iran-Russia trade, he said currently Iran is doing its trade with Russia via land, rail and marine and while Coronavirus has closed several borders, fortunately Iran’s trade with Russia has continued and consequently the virus has not affected the bilateral trade.
He noted since Iranians are more exporters to Russia, they should know fully the rules and regulations in Russia in order to continue exports seriously.
He warned that if Iranian exporters are not fully aware with regulations in Russia, they would definitely suffer losses and Iranian officials can cooperate with their Russian counterparts in this regard.
Tizhoush Taban added that fortunately, Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian as the head of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission is the strong point for trade between both states who has helped significantly in this regard.
On the Russia’s ban on exporting cereals and its impact on Iran’s economy, he said so far Russians have announced nothing, but Iran’s imports of cereals from Russia are only limited to barley and corn, and also to the limited amount of wheat which are imported via Amirabad Port and Anzali Port.
He reiterated that one should take this point into consideration that currently all countries are facing with certain food conditions but all should wait and see Russians’ final decision.
On the impacts of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Agreement on Iran-Russia trade, Tizhoush Taban said the agreement is definitely to the benefit of Russians because they enjoy better conditions and advantages rather than Iranians, adding that talks should continue in order to change the condition to a win-win one for both sides.
