Chairman of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce Yahya Ale-Eshaq says Iraq’s borders to Iranian goods are open and the trade between both states continue and in case some border checkpoints close, goods will be exported from other borders.

TEHRAN – Chairman of the Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce Yahya Ale-Eshaq says Iraq’s borders to Iranian goods are open and the trade between both states continue and in case some border checkpoints close, goods will be exported from other borders.

Ale Eshaq reiterated that exports to Iraq will continue, adding that although for a short time exports to Iraq faced some disruption, everything was normalized in short time.

He added that both countries are working together to resolve health problems for exports because of the outbreak of Coronavirus in order that bilateral trade can continue without any concern.

On the current condition of borders between both states, Ale Eshaq said that currently northern borders are open but southern borders sometimes are closed and it will be resolved because of efforts of both sides.

He added that one of the reasons behind closure of the borders is to provide health infrastructures in the joint borders.

In general, senior officials of the two countries of Iran and Iraq believe that political and trade relations between the two countries should be expanded, he concluded.
