TEHRAN – Iran Chamber of Cooperative yesterday held a specialized forum to explore trade opportunities of Iran and Armenia where the head of the ICC Mr. Bahman Abdollahi and Armenian Ambassador to Tehran Arateshs Toumanian where present.

During the meeting, new opportunities for expansion of economic relations of Iran and Armenia as well as free trade opportunities between Iran and Eurasian Union, exchange of information, familiarity of economic activists and producers of Iran Cooperative sector with the demands of Armenia’s market, marketing of goods and services as well as the tastes of Armenian consumers were discussed.

Addressing the meeting, head of international department of the ICC Mr. Mohammad Ali Zeighami pointed to the goal of holding the forum, saying Armenia, Iran’s neighboring country, is a member of Eurasian Union and it doubles the importance of attention of economic activists to this country.

He also emphasized the banking and financial grounds for cooperation, adding that joint ventures or joint production can be taken into consideration by both countries for their exports.

Then Armenian Ambassador highlighted capabilities and capacities of his country for economic activists.

Mr. Toumanian pointed to the old and amicable relation of Iran and Armenia, adding Armenia attaches great importance for its relation with Iran.

He then introduced trade opportunities in Armenia and called for practical steps for boosting bilateral trade relations.

Later in a separate meeting, head of ICC Mr. Abdollahi introduced capabilities and capacities of Iran’s cooperative sector.

He further said cooperative sector is the biggest part of popular economy in the country and expressed readiness for expansion of trade between both states.

Toumanian, for his part, expressed his satisfaction for his presence in the ICC, saying that he has visited several provinces of Iran and met several Iranian economic activists and exchanged information.

He added that Armenia is ready to expand trade interactions with Iran’s cooperative sector.

The Armenian diplomat also called for dispatch of Iranian and Armenian trade delegations, expressing readiness of his country for holding specialized exhibitions for Iranians in Yerevan or holding exhibitions of Armenian economic activists in Iran.
