If Saudis Are Honest , We Are Serious for Talks

Saudis in different periods have considered themselves as the allies of the U.S. and this fact has been institutionalized in them that Americans will support them in any circumstances. In recent events especially during the Houthi attack on Aramco oil facilities, the Americans backed away from supporting the Saudis and disclaimed responsibility.

Iran’s influence in the Middle East has fully unbalanced this notion that reliance on the U.S. can bring security and today Americans have no strength to support the region. If the assessment and weighing the danger of Iran in the region and especially for neighboring states is not conducted precisely, it will definitely lead to miscalculation. That the U.S. has close ties with Israel and Arabian states like Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE and today due to Iran’s influence, this alliance has been questioned is actually undeniable.

It is crystal clear that the role of IRGC’s arm Quds Forces as specialized warfare and sans-border operation forces in the region can be a reliable arm for all neighbors of Iran. In the past decades, the Islamic Republic of Iran via Martyr Lieutenant Qassem Soleimani has achieved some successes in building close ties with the Syrian Government and armed groups in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen and this success can be extended to other countries.

That former U.S. Ambassador in the UAE says the U.S. allies in the region fear Iran’s revenge of Martyr Soleimani’s assassination is a wrong address which has given to distance neighboring states from each other. So it is natural that American news paper the New York Times in an analysis writes,”The U.S. allies in the Middle East for years had warned over Iran’s progress and strengthening their enemies, developing strategic capabilities and supporting the militia groups near or inside their borders in order to boost Iran’s influence. But after the U.S. drone attack and assassination of Martyr Soleimani, despite the satisfaction of those governments, they remained silent on the crime.” The daily added, “The situation is particularly delicate for countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates that sit directly across the Persian Gulf from Iran and have close ties to the United States. Their wealth and vast oil and commercial infrastructure could be attractive targets for Iranian attacks.”

The countries in the region especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE during recent incidents have realized that the U.S. does not care for their interests and they definitely will rely on Iran for drawing a lasting strategic plan for sustainable peace and stability in the region.

Does not it the sign of power shift in the region that those pro-U.S. allies in countries like Syria, Iraq and Lebanon have not been able to express their view over the assassination of Martyr Soleimani and even Zionist regime’s reaction has been limited due to fear of Iran’s retaliatory response?

What does this mean that the Zionist regime’s officials have refrained from having a hand in the assassination of Martyr Soleimani and his comrades? What does that really signify?

The former U.S. Ambassador to the UAE and a member of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy Ms. Barbara A. Leaf continues to frighten some Persian Gulf states from Iran’s anger over their support of Donald Trump’s act and says, “Those countries want to know what the U.S. is planning to do next. An more still important is whether the U.S. is keen to support its Persian Gulf allies which are highly vulnerable.

Is not it really the sign for compulsory and gradual pullout of the U.S. from the region? Barbara Leaf’s remarks were like throwing cold water on the regional states especially those which have not cut off their hopes on the U.S. support yet while the U.S. implicitly signals message to them that they should not count on it any longer.

So the time is ripe for a shift in the past strategy and regional states should take Iran’s open arms seriously.
