TEHRAN (Iran News) – Police forces managed to identify two narcotics haul with a 510-kilogram consignment of hashish from Iranian Eastern provinces to the Northeastern province of Golestan, and in an operation impounded the vehicles and the cargo of drug in addition to apprehending two traffickers.

Police Chief of Golestan Province Brigadier General Rouholamin Qassemi announced on Wednesday that anti-narcotics police have seized 510 kilograms of hashish on the main roads of the Iranian province of Golestan, saying that following comprehensive intelligence activities, the police forces traced the haul of illegal consignment in Golestan province, which was coming from one of the Eastern provinces of Iran.

Two smugglers have been arrested during the operation and two vehicles were confiscated by the police, he added.

Last month, Police Chief of Sistan and Baluchistan province Brigadier General Mohammad Qanbari said that a big consignment was captured after a series of intelligence operations and during a battle between the antinarcotics force and a gang attempting to smuggle the drugs into the country through Saravan border regions.

Four criminals and two vehicles along with a number of different weapons were captured during the operation, the police chief added.

A week before that, Secretary-General of Iran’s Drug Control Headquarters Brigadier General Eskandar Momeni said in a press conference in Zahedan that his country’s police forces have confiscated a total of 550 tons of different types of illicit drugs in the past seven months up to October 22, in a bid to further tighten the national campaign against narcotics, adding that it shows a 15% rise in comparison with figures from the last year.
