TEHRAN (Iran News) – Managing Director of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization Mohammad Rastad and Head of Russia’s Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transportation Yury Tsvetkov in a meeting made a mutual agreement to expand the cooperation between the two countries in the Caspian Sea.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed exchanging port cooperation protocols, issues related to Iranian ships in the Russian ports and joint investments in both countries’ ports within the framework of Iran-Russia 2nd committee of joint maritime and ports cooperation.

The Iran-Russia officials also underlined the importance of reinforcing joint investment based on ports development, lifting shipping barriers and increasing maritime transportation and making an agreement on them.

The volume of maritime exchanges between Iran and Russia exceeds 2,700 tons per year.

The same figure is predicted to increase to above 5,400 tons after the taking effect of maritime transportation development protocol.

Earlier, Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian and his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak in a meeting in Moscow exchanged views on economic cooperation, especially in the field of energy and renewable energies.

During the meeting in the Russian capital on Thursday, the ministers in Iran-Russia meeting discussed the agreement reached the 15th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission in the fields of agriculture, banking, energy, industry, and technology.
