TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iranian lawmakers on Monday ratified a bill on an Iran-Kazakhstan commercial shipping agreement in the Caspian Sea between the two countries of Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In a Parliament session on Monday, Iranian lawmakers ratified a bill on Iran-Kazakhstan commercial shipping agreement in the Caspian Sea between the two countries with 156 votes in favor, 4 against and 2 in abstentions.
The move came as Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is in Kazakhstan for bilateral talks and participation at the fifth annual meeting of the Astana Club in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan.
The Caspian Port in Anzali is exempt from the problems that southern coasts are facing, referring to the difficulties in port use and other maritime services that have been caused by renewed US sanctions on Iran when Donald Trump Administration walked out of the 2015 international nuclear treaty with Iran.
The Caspian Sea is shared by Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan, all of which have reiterated their support for the nuclear deal in the face of the unilateral US sanctions that went into effect last November.
At the meeting, experts will discuss the most important geopolitical and security issues on the future of Eurasia and the dynamics of global processes.
The meeting is expected to be attended by more than 50 international speakers from almost 30 countries, according to the event’s website.
