Making the remarks in a ceremony held on the occasion of World Space Week (October 4-10), he said “the U.S. imposed sanctions on three major Iranian aerospace entities overnight but Iranian scientist will not remain behind the doors of sanctions.”

In March 2014, Iran announced that it has sent the second monkey into the space on the back of an explorer rocket, and that it has brought back and recovered the living cargo.

The second monkey which was sent into the space on the back of an Iran-made explorer returned to the Earth safely. The Iranian explorer was launched into the space using liquid fuel for the first time.

Meanwhile in the ceremony, Head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) Morteza Barari announced that his country will launch 3 cube satellites into the orbit in the near future.

“This year (the Iranian year which started on March 21), three satellites will be ready in the next three months. 2 launchers will be prepared in the next few months and we want to launch three cubesats too in addition to the launcher,” Barari said.

“This year, we have three satellites and it was decided that two samples of Zafar satellite be ready and they (the scientists) are preparing the Pars 1 satellite and a remote sensing satellite with the precision of 15 meters,” he added.

Barari underlined that Nahid 1 satellite has been built and will be sent into the 250-km orbit, noting that manufacturing two new satellites will be on Iran’s agenda next year.

Iran is one of the 9 states building satellites beside the US, Russia, Europe and Canada.

Later in the ceremony, Deputy Defense Minister Brigade General Ghasem Taghizadeh said that Iran will soon launch weather satellite ‘Tolou’ (sunrise) to its orbit using domestic carrier rockets.

Informing that Iran has a ten-year-plan to reach modern technology in meteorology relying on domestic capabilities, he said “Iran has successfully launched 11 carrier rockets by the present day.”

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said in late August that Iran’s satellite program is advancing according to a well-established program.
