Iran Exports Medicine

TEHRAN (Iran News) – Iran exports medicine to countries in Europe, Africa and Central Asia, the country’s health minister said.

In an interview with ICANA, Saeed Namaki said Iranian pharmaceutical producers have raised standards in their plants to the extent that the Islamic Republic has become a supplier of medicine in the global market. Iran News quotes the report.

“The export of medicine to African and Central Asian countries is in progress, particularly in the sphere of bio-similar and biologic pharmaceuticals,” the health minister said.

Namaki added that Iran has also begun to export medicine to Europe.

In comments last month, the secretary of Biotechnology Development Headquarter at the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology said Iran is exporting bio-pharmaceuticals to several regional and overseas countries, unveiling plans to increase export revenue generated by the knowledge-based companies.

Mostafa Qanei said Iranian bio-pharmaceuticals were being exported to major customers like Russia, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Turkey, adding that plans are also underway to transfer Iranian bio-pharmaceuticals technology to Argentina.

Earlier this year  Iran Food and Drug Administration President Hamid Reza Shanehsaz has said “We are prepared to cooperate with Nicaragua in medicine export and share expertise in pharma production and control. There are good capacities in Nicaragua and they can help us in return.”
