Iran’s Top General Due in Parliament Tuesday
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri is slated to attend the parliament on Tuesday, a lawmaker said.

Ahmad Amirabadi, a member of the presiding board of the parliament, told Tasnim that Major General Baqeri would attend an open session of the parliament on Tuesday.

Major General Baqeri plans to deliver a speech on the occasion of the Sacred Defense Week, marking the anniversary of the onset of the 1980-1988 Iraqi imposed war on the Islamic Republic, the parliamentarian said.

Events to commemorate the Sacred Defense Week kicked off on Sunday as the country’s Armed Forces staged nationwide military parades.

Various units representing the Iranian Navy, Air Force, Army Ground Force, Airborne division, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Police participated in the parades across the country on Sunday.

The most recent achievements of the Iranian Armed Forces in the missile industry, equipment for the ground, naval and air defense forces, as well as communication gear, were put on display in the military events.

In Iran, the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war is known as the Sacred Defense, and the Sacred Defense Week is annually held on the anniversary of the beginning of the war.
