Iran’s Ali Miri Wins Silver at IWF World Championships
Iranian weightlifter Ali Miri claimed a silver medal at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships on Monday.

In the men’s 89kg event, Armenia’s Hakob Mkrtchyan won the gold with a total of 375kg.

Miri was the total silver medalist with 374kg, having come fifth in the snatch with 167kg and third in the clean and jerk with 207kg.

Completing the top three was Georgia’s Revaz Davitadze with 371kg, after he won the snatch with 172kg and ranked eighth in the clean and jerk with 199kg.

The 2019 IWF World Championships is underway in Pattaya, Thailand from 18-27 September.

The event has brought a total of 734 athletes from 105 nations together.
