TEHRAN – The trade volume between Iran and EU members has fallen by 73 percent and it has reached $3.8b euros in the first seven months of 2019.

The trade volume between Iran and EU members has fallen by 73 percent and it has reached $3.8b euros in the first seven months of 2019.

According to the statistics released by the EuroStat, the trade volume between Iran and 28 member states of EU has declined sharply in the first seven months comparing to the same period in 2018.

The trade volume of Iran and EU was over 11.5b euros in the first seven months in 2018 but it has declined by 73 percent and stood at 3b euros.Iran-EU Trade Volume Falls by 73%

EU exports to Iran from January to July of 2019 have been halved comparing to the same period in 2018.

According to the statistics, EU exports to Iran stood at 5.3b euros in first half of 2018 and the figure has declined by 51 percent and stood at 2.6b euros this year.

EU’s imports from Iran in the first 7 months of2019 have also declined by 92 percent comparing to the same period last year and stood at 487m euros. Europeans have also imported commodities from Iran worth 6.1b in the same period.

The sharp fall in trade between Iran and EU in 2019 following reimposition of the U.S. sanctions shows that EU has failed to fulfill its JCPOA commitments.
