NIDC’s New Technique Reduces Time of Drilling Operation
TEHRAN – National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) by using directional drilling technique for drilling a well in the Persian Gulf water reduced time of the operation process for 13 days.

Director of offshore drilling operations at National Iranian Drilling Co. (NIDC) Siamak Afshari said that the operation for drilling a well in the Persian Gulf by using directional drilling technique caused the operation ends 13 days earlier than what was expected.

He went on to say that this developmental well was drilled on the Abouzar oil platform in the Persian Gulf.

He also pointed to the joint cooperation between NIDC and Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), adding that the achievement was the result of continuous endeavors and interactions of experts of both companies.

Afshari noted that directional drilling equipment joined the drilling fleet of NIDC in 1996, adding that the first well was drilled by this equipment in 1999 and the well joined the production cycle in the same period.

He reiterated that NIDC currently has ownership of three offshore drilling jack-up rigs in Shahid Modarres, Shahid Rajaee and Morab.
