KSC Priority Is to Continue Developing Upstream Chain
TEHRAN – The CEO of Khuzestan Steel Company (KSC) says the priority of the company is to continue development in the upstream chain.

In an interview, the new CEO of Khuzestan Steel Company Mr. Ali Mohammadi highlighted goals and programs of the company.

He said his major plan is to continue development of upstream chain for sustainable provision of iron ore and concentrate, and acceleration in projects like boosting the production capacities and improving the environmental projects. He added that the company will also continue its social responsibility by being engaged more in social programs.

On means of providing the raw materials for the plant, Mohammadi said that the company provides its iron ore concentrate from Chadormalu and Chaghart mines in Yazd and mines in Gol Gohar and Gahar Zamin in Sirjan, adding some part of it is also provided from Sangan region. He noted that since those mines have themselves launched steel making plants and export some of its concentrate, Khuzestan Steel Company is facing serious problem for providing necessary raw material for its plants, reiterating that the problem will be more serious in upcoming years when steel-making plants of those mines come on stream.

Mohammadi added that pelletizing capacity of the KSC is around 6.4m tons but in the current condition and due to problem for providing concentrate, the iron concentrate production of the company is currently around 6m tons.

He went on to say that the company has set the target of 8.3m tons for production of the steel billet for the current year and fortunately it has produced over 1.56m tons which is materialization of 10 percent of the set target.

Mohammadi added that the target for production of pellet is 6m tons for this year and the company has currently produced 2.6m tons, 2.1 percent ahead of the predicted target.

He added that the target for production of iron sponge is 95.3m tons and the company has so far produced 1.6m tons, 2 percent ahead of the set target.

Mohammadi also said that the company has taken major measures of efficient water consumption and it has another project for reducing water consumption.
