Deterrence Power Even Without Having Nukes
Deterrence Power Even Without Having Nukes
Shooting down of the most  sophisticated U.S. drone over the waters of Iran led to revelation of  truths among the remarks of analysts of the international political developments, and the most important part of those analyses is and will be about Iran’s growing deterrence power even without having weapons of mass destruction like the nukes.

After the U.S. President Donald Trump decided to cancel a planned military response to Iran over shooting down of the U.S. drone, undoubtedly Iran showed its unprecedented power in the region to the world and especially to the U.S. and its regional followers.

A proof to this claim is an article which was published in the American daily Washington Post on Tuesday as the daily wrote, “Donald Trump’s threats against Iran have had no impact on Iran’s behavior but they made Iran take bolder steps against the U.S. interests because the day before the threats, Iran had surpassed the limit on the uranium supply permitted under the 2015 nuclear agreement and it showed no fear for revealing it decision openly,  and reiterated that its action was in compliance with the framework and articles of the JCPOA. This happened after Europe failed to mitigate the effects of the U.S. sanctions and revealed its weakness. Iran defends its rights in its own style and this move can increase the rift between Tehran and Washington for waning the articles and paragraphs of the JCPOA.”

The newspaper continues, “Some analysts believe that the U.S. pullout of the JCPOA has weakened the U.S. influence in Europe and even in some major part of the world, and a united front which was and is considered by the U.S. and Europe as a world community and could be alive against Iran was sacrificed.”

The newspaper quoted John McLaughlin, former deputy director and acting director of the CIA, as saying, “The U.S. decision adds to the pressure on the Europeans but should not push them to a decision on staying in or leaving the deal. Iran gave up 98 percent of its enriched uranium and this bumps up the low enriched amount only a bit. If they start next enriching to 20 percent they raise the stakes of producing plutonium because of the greater ease in jumping to weapons grade from that level. We are not there yet. Of course the only reason this is happening is because Trump pulled out of the deal, ceding the high ground on this issue and reopening problems that would have been held at least for a number of years in abeyance.”

In this relation, former U.S. negotiator Dennis Rice told Washington Post, “It seems Trump Administration intended to bring Iran to the negotiation table by maximizing the pressure but today by gradual pullout from restrictions of the JCPOA, we are seeing Iranian version of maximum pressure on the U.S. and Europe.”

Washington Post remarks and concerns show that Iran’s rightfulness criteria are pushing Europe and the U.S. towards a tougher climate, and ultimately this is the U.S. which should turn the wheel towards accepting defeat from Iran and return to the JCPOA. And with this decision, the door will be open for Europe and the government aligned with the Europe in Iran for economic breakthrough and Zionist regime’s scenario for isolating Iran will be doomed to failure,  and at the same time it will promote this belief that Iran has never been after the weapons of the mass destruction, and in the current condition it showed, by destroying the most sophisticated U.S. surveillance drone made by Northrope, that it does not need to prove its deterrence military power in the region.
